ENJOY THE MONZONI FASSA DOLOMITES HIKE

The Monzoni, Munciogn in Ladino, are a particular area of the Dolomites composed of Dolomia and mainly of intrusive eruptive rocks, a sign of the area’s volcanic past.
Our photographic trek will take us to the top of this curious Trentino massif

Val Monzoni is a valley of the Val di Fassa. It is a very particular valley due to the presence of monzonite, an eruptive rock present only here.
Among larch and stone pine forests we will climb up to the pastures and the top of the Sasso delle Undici from which you can enjoy a 360 ° panorama over almost all the Trentino Dolomites.

Vallaccia is an authentic place that still retains the appearance of a former refuge today. Perched among the pastures it allows you to observe the sunrise and sunset.

Day by Day

Saturday

Meeting point Malga Crocifisso (From Pozza di Fassa going up the Val San Nicolò by car to Malga Crocifisso) time: 11 am
Briefing and lunch / snack at Malga Crocefisso.
Excursion with photo stops hike to Val Monzoni and the Vallaccia refuge (4 hours with stops – 750m elevation gain, difficulty E).
Photo session before dinner and briefing at the refuge.
Dinner at the refuge.
Photo session at sunset around the refuge.
Overnight at the refuge / night photography session.

Sunday

Wake up at 6:00 am (optional) sunrise excursion to the top of Sas da le Undesc (2550m – 250m difference in altitude 40 min) to photograph the sunrise over the Dolomites
Return to the refuge for breakfast.
8:30 am Excursion to Val di San Nicolò. From the refuge we will go down to the Monzoni huts and then go up again quickly to the Pief pass where we will find a lovely lake surrounded by the forest. We will then reach the Baite Cascate. We will return to the cars following the comfortable valley route (515m of elevation gain, 1200m divided into two descents – 6 hours total ).
Return to the cars scheduled between 15 and 16.

The course aims to teach a reasoned method to create landscape images, lake environments at thaw, as well as making the photographer autonomous in reading the lights and their compensation, also through photographic filters.

This experience is within the reach of all hikers with a habit of making routes of 5/6 hours a day and a positive altitude difference of around 600m per day.

Equipment and details

Course suitable for owners of reflex or mirror-less cameras with at least one wide-angle or normal lens.
Tripod
Recommended, but not mandatory, a kit from 24mm to 200m, filters. (evaluate the weight of the backpack well)
Mountain clothing, hiking boots.
Lunch in the refuge / mountain hut. Dinner and overnight stay in the refuge. – Required sheet bag.
Difficulty of EE trails.
